Light Capturers

Light has fascinating properties. It can act like a wave sometimes or like a particle other times. The way it interacts with various substances to bring out various colors, shades, hues, and sparkles is fascinating.

Christ said, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). It is Christ who first broke through the darkness. "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Genesis 1:3)." "And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (Ephesians 3:9)."

We have no light in and of ourselves. If we seperate from Christ, our flame goes out. "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them (Isaiah 8:20)." "But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him (John 11:10)." "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent (Revelation 2:5)."

When accept Christ, we receive the light. "... he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12)."

People cherish things that reflect light in a beautiful way. Morphos reflect a jewel like blue light. Flowers show off a vast array of colors. The blue jay has feathers that are structured in such a way that it gives captures blue light in the feathers.





Some of the most prized light capturers are gemstones. The way that a gemstone is able to capture and reflect certain wavelengths of light has led to people doing all sorts of crazy things to obtain a light capturer.

Christians are like gemstones. " And the foundations of the wall of the city [were] garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation [was] jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; (Revelation 21:19)". In verse 14 of Revelation 21, the Bible says that the tweleve apostles names were written on each foundation. Furthermore, Peter writes, "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5) ". And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him (Malachi 3:17)."

Each Christian's testimony is unique. No two people on the earth have the exact same experience with God. Light capturers capture and reflect light in different ways. Causing the many spectrums of the light of God's love to be revealed in the world. The light capturers of Revelation 21 or the apostles are represented by various gemstones in the New Jerusalem.

The jewels on the ephod of the Old Testament high priest, had special significance. They represented the twelve tribes of Israel. "And the stones [were] according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, [like] the engravings of a signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes (Exodus 39:14)." Christ the high priest of the New Testament wears each of his light bearers close to his heart.

Whatever wavelength of light you may capture and reflect, know that it sparkles and dazzles those around you. Just like a gemstone your experience with God is something that is sought after. "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price [is] far above rubies (Proverbs 31:10)." Accept Christs' call to be the light of the world. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid (Matthew 5:14)." Accept Christs' call to be a light capturer.
